The architect I respect

Filed under: Uncategorized — starbuild @ 6:02 am

Before talking about the buildings that  impress me very much in Taipei, I want to talk about the architect that  I respect.安藤忠雄(あんどう ただお Ando Tadao) is my favorite architect. He is a Japanese and born in Osaka.  He was a boxcar driver and a bruiser before, and he never receive formal education on architecture. He is a primitive architect, and that is one of the reasons I respect him. After Ando finished senior high school in Osaka, he traveled over the world to admire many architectures.  In 1969, He founded his own office.  During 1970s he designed houses, and in 1980s he designed business buildings. After 1990s, he started to design public buildings , art galleries and some big projects. And then, he  used a very special technique called ”清水混凝土” to build some houses and some commercial buildings. “清水混凝土” is a difficult way to build the architectures, but it has esthetic feel. In Japan, it is a very unique skill and only the best architect uses it.In 1995, Ando won “Pritzker Architecture Prize” that is called the Nobel Prize in architect.

I like Mr. Ando not only because his beautiful architecture, but also his hardworking. He did’nt went to the college , but his hardworking made him success.

I wish I can learn something from him, and some day, when I finish my university test, I want to go to Japan to admire his project.
